Custom Order Deposit
CUSTOM PROCESS:
We love working with clients on custom projects. Our main objective is to help you complete your vision in creating a truly one-of-a-kind piece of sculpture to wear. At KVA Jewelry, the custom jewelry process is truly a collaborative experience & we look forward to working with you on your design!
In order to receive a proposed design, the best place to start is to fill out the custom order form at www.kvajewelry.com. You can find the form by clicking on “Custom” in the home menu bar on our website. After receiving your form, you can expect to hear back from us within 2-3 days. The following step would be to schedule a design consultation with us in person or over zoom depending on your location. If you have family heirloom, vintage, or other jewelry pieces that you would like re-designed into something new – please be prepared to provide images & any certifications (GIA or Appraisals) of your current stones & mountings. TIMELINE:
Once we have all of this information in hand, Kelly will collaborate with you on a design and follow up with a proposal. Each proposal involves sourcing and time. We appreciate your patience, as the process can take up to two weeks to prepare and send back to you. If you agree with the proposal and terms, you can pay the $500 non-refundable deposit through the website to start the process. Most custom projects take 10-12 weeks to complete, depending on our project schedule.
DESIGN FEE:
We charge a $250 non-refundable design fee for all custom orders, which will be applied toward the final purchase. This initial phase includes a design consultation meeting and 1-2 rounds of design prototypes (either digital or sculpted in wax). At the end of this phase, we then collect a 60% payment (which includes the $500 design fee) based on the estimate provided for the final piece of jewelry. With this payment, the client agrees to let me begin production of the custom piece.
DEPOSIT:
All custom pieces designed or handmade by KVA Jewelry require an approval of an estimate given, and a 60% deposit. With this payment, the client agrees to let production of the custom piece begin. If the client is having a family heirloom, vintage, or other jewelry pieces re-designed by KVA Jewelry, then this approval will also include the client agreeing to have the original jewelry piece disassembled, stones removed, and metal recycled/repurposed for the new design. The remaining balance will be charged upon completion of the piece and approval from the client. Written approval of receipt and satisfaction will be required upon receiving the piece. Jewelry will be shipped after receiving the final balance.
For an order cancellation after production begins, the client agrees that they are responsible for any non-recoverable costs for the piece, as well as the $500 design fee.
CLIENT-PROVIDED STONES & JEWELRY:
If a client would like to use a pre-owned stone, they must first send photos of the stones (or schedule an in-person meeting with Kelly), and provide detailed information about stone type, carat weight, any certifications (GIA) and current mounting. Stones are approved on a case-by-case basis. The client agrees that there is reasonable risk involved in removing stones from mountings and resetting stones. It is the responsibility of KVA Jewelry to assess any risk regarding your stone and advise the client on any foreseeable issues before moving forward with stone resetting. By providing consent for KVA
Jewelry to reset a pre-existing gemstone, the customer holds harmless KVA Jewelry against any stone damage due to stone flaws or existing stone cracks, chipping, flaws, or inclusions.
If a client chooses to use their own stones or jewelry and ships them directly to KVA Jewelry, the customer will select its own shipping carrier, negotiate rates, shipping terms, and remit payment directly to the shipping provider. The customer will be encouraged to purchase shipping insurance and understands that KVA Jewelry will not purchase shipping insurance on the customer's behalf. The customer assumes all liability associated with this shipment, and hereby holds harmless KVA Jewelry and all of their deemed agents against any claims for loss or damage. Any claims that need to be made for lost or damaged shipments will by the customer's responsibility. Please insure all shipments and ship by a trackable carrier (e.g., FedEx or UPS).
RETURNS:
Custom-designed pieces are non-returnable.
REPAIRS:
At the discretion of KVA Jewelry, a custom piece will be repaired or replaced if any manufacturer defects are found in the first 12 months from the date of the purchase. Normal wear and tear and customer abuse are not covered under warranty. RESIZING:
It is the customer's responsibility to provide an accurate ring size prior to production. If you have questions about this process or would like to be sized by Kelly in person at the studio, please email us at info@kvajewelry.com. Pieces will be resized on a case-by-case basis and come with a flat resizing fee of $50 [platinum pieces require a $110 resizing fee]. Please note, jewelry pieces such as eternity bands, intricate settings, or pieces featuring certain gemstones cannot be resized. Please allow 2-3 weeks for resizing.
